METALLICA MADE STADIUM IN LJUBLJANA RED-HOT
Ljubljana - Central Stadium in Ljubljana and the streets around it were yesterday wrapped in black and in heavymetal sounds. The day went by in anticipation of the one most innovative heavymeal groups of late eighties and early nineties - Metallica. While the passer grandmothers shut their ears because of the violent noise that was spreading all around the mass of fans on the stadium partied and proved, that the age of metal in Slovenia has not ended. After first estimates there was about 20.000 tickets sold and Slovene fans were joined by fans from Italy, Hungary, Austria, Bosna and Croatia. The door opened at about 14.30 and by the time Slovene group called SkyTower begun playing their music, the stadium was already half full. After SkyTower we were able to listen to Danish band Mercyful Fate and American band Monster Magnet. Till the first sounds of song Breadfan tha mass was already heated. Even thou Metallica played 20 songs (mostly hits) the Slovene fans wanted more. "I hold against them the changed style, cut hair and the remaking of other songs, but they were in Slovenia for the first time and maybe the last time. That was one of the biggest concerts here - really worth seeing," said one of the fans. Between the fans we had a lot of teens, but we could also see a few older people because the group is on stage for over 17 years. Text: Maja Roš
